This was a very book about a fascinating topic, which even as a nurse, I don’t get to witness much of as it is a very specialised area.

I found it very well written and liked the fact that not too much medical terminology was used which makes the book accessible for people outside of healthcare. The mixture of history of transplants as well as the practicalities of getting organs from donors to recipients and the personal stories of patients and families make this book captivating and hard to put down.

I would recommend this book both to healthcare and non healthcare workers as it gives an insight into the fragility of life and teaches us that we should not take our loved ones for granted as they can very easily be taken from us. It also gives you a better understanding of surgery and even how the body works without being too heavy of a read if you want to learn more about this area.
