This sounds like a real subject - how many films and books have been about someone escaping their small community or about someone returning to the escaped community? This is real life.
A butchers shop is a different sort of venue and returning to the community to hide from a secret makes me immediately eager to know more.
As for the genre, contemporary doesn't really give me away. The blurb is intriguing and manages to draw you in. I am definitely interested.
