The story follows Jo and Tessa in the Forest of Dean. Jo has recently returned to her hometown from London after feeling like London and her law career were no longer fulfilling. Tessa, a local farrier, is fiercely protective of her life and reluctantly rents out a room to Jo.

This book was touching and carefully followed the lives of both women as they figured out what it means to belong. The pace of this book was slow, and at times I did find it difficult to pick up, but I think the slow-pace is an essential part of the story-telling.

There are some heartbreaking moments in both of the women's lives and I feel like the author touches upon these with dignity.

Whilst this type of genre isn't something I would rush to return to, it was a refreshing read and I think if you are a fan of slow-burns I think you would enjoy this, as many other reviewers have.
