I saw the front cover of this book and was drawn to it. The beautiful forest background gave the book mystery and I knew I had to look at the sneak peak. Immediately, the detail put into creating the setting paid off as I was able to feel included within the book and understood the location it was set in. The nature of contemporary fiction is that, as readers, we are able to relate to the main characters and even smaller characters in the book and so create bonds with them and get attached. The family present in the first chapter instantly made links with my own life that had me laughing out loud. I can definitely see this as being one of those books with real life problems happening with the characters that would have me feeling the same emotions as them.
