This was an interesting book about life in The Forest of Dean. It was a major backdrop to the storyline and influenced the characters and how they behaved.
The story revolves around two main characters, Tessa and Jo. Jo moves back to the area after being in London and to take over the running of a butchers shop her parents owned and were now retiring. Jo moves in with Tessa and they are so different you wonder how it will work. Tessa has a medical problem which affects her relationships with people and her everyday life.
As you go through the book the two women slowly get to know each other, Jo is trying to get back to her past and Tessa is haunted by hers.
The book is fairly well written but I feel maybe rushed towards the end. I was disappointed that so much of the story line ended abruptly and it left me wanting to know more.
All in all it was a good book to read but you would need an imagination as to what happened to each character at the end.
