I wasn't really sure what to expect from this book going into it. The premise is so unique and unlike what I typically read, and I also didn't expect it to be particularly interesting. However, Franklin writes this book in an engaging way, bringing together two female protagonists who are so different yet so fundamentally alike. I think any reader can relate to either of the protagonists' struggle to find a place to fit in this world, a place they can call home. The story is a heart-warming one, and the characterization is incredible. I loved the friendship between the two characters because it was so unlikely yet so revealing of who they were deep inside. The alternating point-of-views did an amazing job in letting me see the world through each character's perspective, and understand how different they really were. Overall, this is a great book for those who are in a similar situation to the protagonists - people who want to find their place in the world. The characters are likeable and real, and the book serves its purpose really well. A good read.
