I don’t think this is pretending to be great literature, but it’s an absorbing story and I loved the insights into life in the Forest of Dean. Perfect lockdown book, not too demanding, not completely predictable and learning about a new community. Characters were relatable enough to be enjoyable and different enough to be interesting. Made me want to visit the area when it’s allowed!

The end felt a bit abrupt to me, but maybe that’s because I wanted to carry on getting to know the characters that had started to feel a bit like friends I was keeping in touch with, hearing about their lives for a chapter or two every evening. It met my expectations from my first impression, hope the author gets their second print run as I ended up having to read it on kindle and would definitely have preferred a proper book! The cover looked like it was pleasing.
