Well, this was just brilliant. When I read that it was a story about a Patrick Bateman type character in a Made in Chelsea setting, I was in! It’s such a bonkers premise but after reading it, I was left wondering why no-one had done it before, it’s such a rich environment for a great book…and this is a great book.

Kitty is an influencer, living in a gorgeous flat in Chelsea, paid for by an emotionally and geographically distant mother. Although Insta-famous for chronicling her nights out and wellness pursuits, she is jaded by it all, her cynicism shines through. Leaving her friends early one night, she is followed and accosted by a man who felt she owed him some attention because he had bought her a drink. Now, most women have encountered this situation at some point, but I’m pretty sure that most women didn’t leave this situation with the man dead. Kitty isn’t most women though.

What follows is us watching along as Kitty dispatches the awful men she finds - those who prey on women, those whose entitlement drives them, those who see women as less than. It’s hard not to cheer her on, in the same way we cheered on Dexter Morgan. She is providing a service.

On the surface, this is a tongue-in-cheek story but it actually shines a light on some deep topics in a way that is accessible and not preachy. There shouldn’t be a need for Kitty, it should be harder for her to find men that deserve her justice, women shouldn’t have to subjected to emotional and physical abuse in their relationships with the men in their lives.

A brilliant read that runs at an amazing pace, so much that you can gobble it all up in one sitting, and I challenge you not to!
