There’s something disturbingly compelling about media that focuses on the point of view of a killer. Maybe it’s because it’s such an unexpected viewpoint to be following, or maybe it’s because their antics, while appalling, leave you infinitely intrigued to what will come next. Whatever the reason it generally leads to a highly addictive book, movie or show although it’s simultaneously an incredibly difficult perspective to get right. Thankfully this novel has its viewpoint nailed and Kitty’s voice is highly compelling to follow a tale in.

This book is a bizarre but captivating mash up of ‘Dexter’ and ‘Me Too’; if ‘Dexter‘ was a wealthy Influencer with millions of followers. It’s a combination that, on some levels, really shouldn’t work yet in all honesty it leads to a wonderfully compelling story filled with dark humour, grisly scenes and wealthy socialites. There’s a lot of action throughout and scenes of gore that certainly made me flinch on occasion. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart and I do advice readers to look into its triggers if necessary. Yet it’s simultaneously an utterly addictive read that’s downright impossible to put down.

The absolute highlight of this novel was definitely Kitty’s voice. As a character I can’t truly say I like her considering her actions and how snobbish she could be at times yet there’s something utterly intoxicating about reading such a dark, twisted and macabre novel in her voice. The low point for me is one that I didn’t let bother me too much although I do feel compelled to at least mention it and that was believability on occasion. This is the sort of story where outrageously crazy things happen yet it works wonderfully with its humour and sass. But I do feel like some of Kitty’s antics left too much of a digital trail on occasion even so.

Altogether I’d certainly recommend this book, particularly to fans of shows like ‘Dexter’ and ‘You’ where you get to follow in the footsteps of some seriously deadly characters. It was an utterly addictive read that was impossible to put down. It’s a strange combination of funny and macabre with murder, feminine rage and Influencer society all coming together in the most captivating of ways. Needless to say I’m curious to see what the author will write next.
