Wow! The action certainly starts on the first page with How to Kill Men and Get Away With It, as homicidal influencer Kitty Collins calmly relates how she throttles a guy to death in order to achieve an authentic kill without getting blood on any expensive fabric. It definitely makes for an attention-grabbing opening.

The story then shifts back in time some months to follow Kitty as she goes about her daily routine, seeking out coffee and barely tolerating fans in search of a selfie. The hints at Kitty’s inner life are particularly intriguing here, as are the references to a stalker who has just re-emerged and started issuing sickening threats again. It’s interesting to see where that thread of the story goes, given Kitty’s own rapid descent into serial killer territory.

As a result of the stalker making contact again, Kitty’s friends persuade her to go on a girls’ night out, where she runs into the creep who ends up being her first victim (sort of). It’s chilling how casual she is about his death, and it opens up many possibilities for how her forthcoming killing spree will grow and take shape. Kitty’s voice is pretty compelling, even when disturbing, which is reflect in the fact that her take on her own murderousness is good and hilarious.
