Humorous and foreboding from the start

There is a strange juxtaposition of humor as well as foreboding from the start of this novel, something that is unique and intriguing for the thriller genre. Definitely aids in increasing the intrigue and making the reader want to read on. Whilst the stream of conscious narrative may not be for everyone, I enjoyed it greatly.
