A group of friends have gathered for a memorial service for one of their group of friends who disappeared, presumed drowned after what may have been an ill considered night time swim from a relatively unsafe bay. The overall mood seems to be a little "off" and everyone is being very careful about what they say to each other.
I'm not sure why I didn't take to this excerpt, but I couldn't get to caring about what had happened or would happen next to any of the characters.
