Immersive
How To Kill Your Best Friend was certainly gripping. From start to finish, the novel was well-paced and immersive, with a thorough plot complete with numerous unexpected sub-plots. These sub-plots held many great, sneaky twists and turns - and definitely kept me guessing!
The plot itself centres around a death, like many typical crime novels, which slowly reveals itself to be darker than first anticipated. After all, how can a 'star open-water swimmer' drown? The thought is illogical to say the least.
If you are a fan of mystery and crime as a genre, I would definitely recommend How To Kill Your Best Friend. The only reason I couldn't give it five stars was because it lacked the level of detail I find appealing (I read a lot of High Fantasy, for example The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon, or George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones series). However, this is down to personal preference and if, unlike me, you enjoy less descriptive, more action-packed reads, this book is for you.
