I enjoyed this book up to the very end. It was well paced, and although I figured out what was going on I still wondered if I was right or not throughout the book.
The narrative switches between two women, university friends who met through a swimming team. They are part of a group of friends who have stayed in touch, but one of them, Lissa, has recently drowned and they all gather for a memorial service on an island where she had settled with her second husband, opening a luxury hotel resort.
At first it was a bit hard switching between the two main narrators but I got used to their different voices pretty quickly.
The tension builds up during the book to a stormy conclusion but the ending sort of just happened and was a bit "meh". The drama could have been taken a bit further I thought.
Makes you think it's a good idea to learn how to swim well but I don't expect to be trapped on a tropical island where I'm likely to end up swimming for my life in a stormy sea! A good use of "write what you know" though.
