Friends and family gather on a remote tropical island for Lissa's memorial service. She disappeared while swimming at night and has been declared dead. In her will she had requested that a memorial should take place a short time after her death at the resort she owned with her husband. At first it appears that her friends are a close knit group but once the other guests have left and only Georgie, Bronwyn, Duncan ,Adam and Lissa's husband Jem are left it becomes apparent that all is not as it seems. Chapters alternate between Georgie and Bronwyn telling the story. Before each chapter a method of How To Kill Your Best Friend is pondered on and rejected by the killer. I found the story a bit slow and repetitive at times and didn't really like the style of writing. A bit too much emphasis on swimming techniques. There were several twists in the plot to hold the reader's interest.
