A story that is relatable to the reader in the way that we all have friends we met in school/college so you can use your own experiences and picture your own friends in this story.
As you read you are guessing what you may think happened and makes you think about many possibilities meaning it keeps you hooked for longer and longer turning page after page.

A group of friends who have been friends since college experience a drowning of one of the group members which is very suspicious from the off as it happens on a remote island and they are an experienced swimming.
It sends you guessing straight away and the style of the book doesn't give anything away.

Naturally the group start to question how it happened and start making their own assumptions of what else could have happened of if anything happened at all.

Do they start to suspect each other?
