I'd like to start this off by thanking Readers First and the publishers for sending me a copy to read and review - receiving thrillers in my book mail is the best kind of book mail!

After years apart, Bron, Georgie and their circle of friends are bought together when a member of the circle, Lissa, is found floating in the sea. Though her body was never recovered, the group get back together to mourn her at the luxurious resort she shared with her husband. However, what is meant to be a memorial trip ends up becoming a nightmare when Bron and Georgie find themselves at the heart of something sinister. Just what was it that killed Lissa? And why are the two of them being unable to sleep without receiving cryptic or threatening messages? Either way... someone's secret is about to come out!

How To Kill Your Best Friend is definitely a good thriller, but it certainly took me a while to get to that conclusion. To begin with, I was super excited - the blurb, title and front cover just screamed "immersive thriller" to me! However, I soon found myself faltering on that excitement. There were a lot of characters introduced all at once, which, at one point, made me wonder if this was part of a series I had missed out on. And the writing style seemed to change pacing so in the first half that I struggled to remain gripped.

For a moment, I was considering giving up and adding this to my did not finish pile, but I am so glad I carried it on. At around 200 pages, this really started to take off for me. There were so many plot twists, that every character I had been introduced to suddenly became a suspect. There were definitely surprising elements to How To Kill Your Best Friend, even right up to the end.

Overall, though, it definitely wasn't my favourite thriller, nor is it one that seems to stand out for me. I really struggled to like any of the characters and found some of them extremely boring. Yes, there were fun twists and turns to each of them, but they seemed hollow and empty in other parts, too.

If you're looking for something to keep you guessing, this book is the one for you. But I struggled to be gripped into it for a long time which is why I'm giving it 3.5 stars.
