Healing the scars of domestic abuse in a women’s refuge..
Before I even read the FI I was really attracted by the premise of this novel and particularly the setting of a women’s refuge. The promise of a frank exploration regarding the realities of domestic violent, alongside a mystery element surrounding the manager and protagonist, Ria, really appealed.
It is very rare that the domestic abuse is covered well in crime thrillers and my opinion was that despite being a little slow to start, the book looks promising. The idea of Ria not only supporting the victims at the refuge but coping with the added pressure of her own life under threat should make for an engrossing and action-packed read.
