Ria Taylor is the manager of a refuge for women whose partners have driven them out of their own homes called SafeMe, helping people who have suffered domestic abuse.

But one night, with her husband away, Ria receives a terrifyingly sinister message. Someone is watching her. Someone who seems to know everything about her. She knows what she should do - seek help, but as events escalate, and terror takes hold, Ria must decide whether to run or hide...

The book alternates chapters with the diary of Tanya, living with Al, who is controlling and abusive towards her, and Ria who is trying to run a family, a home, a marriage, a mortage and a refuge. Ultimately things fall apart around her, and she is the one frightened for her life and her sanity.

The dual plotline comes together at the end and dovetails nicely into a current relateable insight into the lives of anyone suffering from sexual, physical emotional or psychological abuse.

Enjoyable, and definitely thought provoking, a book that has stayed with me.
