Despite finding this story harrowing to read in parts, I think the author did a great job in writing about a difficult subject matter. I found it to be a gripping page turner as well as a story of hope, courage and resilience. The characters are very authentic and the issues in the book are tackled in a sensitive and sincere way. This book is extremely well written and thought provoking. It’s difficult to imagine what victims of domestic violence and abuse go through, and yet this book gives an insightful perspective on this. It really makes you think of how lucky you are not to have had this happen to you but also how important it is that society recognises and supports victims of domestic violence and abuse and that places of refuge and safety are properly funded.
