The opening is grotesquely descriptive and perhaps not for the faint of heart, but for lovers of mystery and intrigue it promises a fascinating well researched read. The history appears accurate and uncensored, a rare trait of much historic fiction.

In the first few chapters alone themes such as race, gang warfare, poverty, organised crime, infant mortality, murder, rudimentary forensic science, civil unrest and warfare are all touched upon. The tone of 'Hudson's Kill', as the title suggests, is dark and should these themes be explored further it suggests a serious yet absorbing read.
