This extract grated on me from the start - why is it using American English spelling e.g. color? I also thought the characters sounded too unbelievable - female, half Irish, half black and a sad back history with child loss - just how clichéd and melodramatic do you need to make it? Sounds like the plot for a below par historical TV drama. Not one for me.
