I liked that the protagonist is a strong female character who I connected with right away. The part about her child was sad but also intriguing as you want to know the rest of her story. It’s made clear the political strains in the city are going to be a main issue and that she herself is from a powerful family and I want to find out the results of this due to the in depth descriptions.
