Set in New York in the early 19th century, this is a brilliant crime novel. And this is not my particular favourite kind of book. Well written, intelligent, and a tribute to the good old crime novels. My expectations were high and I didn't get disappointed. I could write a powerful review, but that would been giving away spoilers and this is too good to spoil. The main theme is dark and powerful and even though it's set in the past, it's far from being outdated. A game of power, sinister interests, and a true hero to put an end to them. I'll keep hoping for a Justy of our times. Well, and a Kerry, 'cause female powerful character are always needed.
