Hudson's Kill is a real historical romp through the muddy streets of New York in the early 19th Century. What starts out as a murder mystery of a young girl brutally stabbed and left for dead, turns into so much more. It leads Marshall Justice Flannigan and his fierce friend Kerry O'Toole to the mysterious compound upon Hudson Hill, known as Jericho and the charismatic preacher who controls what comes in and out of its walls with vigour.

Justice knows the answers to the young girl's murder will be found within Jericho, but getting inside is proving to be difficult. Will Kerry have better luck? And will the warring gangs of New York be able to put their endless battle for territory aside long enough to put an end to the abhorrent activities going on within the mysterious compound?

I really enjoyed Hudson's Kill. It was full of compelling characters, my favourite being robust, but big-hearted fisherman, Lars. The plot took so many twists and turns, with political motives coming into play, making you wonder, who will to betray Justy. A great read.
