Grace Dent has clearly created a witty and relatable memoir of her life growing up in 1970s and 80s Carlisle. Along with her parents and brothers, Dent lives a typically working class Northern background: one where ‘playing out after dark’ is an event, people from London are unfriendly and Cadbury’s Fruit and Nut was actually SOMEBODY’S favourite.
