Grace Dent is an author, broadcaster and food critic, appearing regularly on shows such as Masterchef UK.
The book starts off telling the story of her childhood in Cumberland, then moves on to her life in London, sharing and describing the different meals and food she had throughout. It is heartwarming when she talks about her family, which I found really nice to read. This book is perfect for anyone (especially if you are a food lover!).
I think it is beautifully written, and the fact that it is from the perspective of her younger self makes it even more engaging and interesting. I love how the novel is split into sections of dates (for example ‘March 1996’), as well as chapters, as it makes it more like a diary and easier to read. It was relatable and humorous, and I would like to read another book by Grace Dent.
I also love the colour scheme on the front cover; it would look lovely on anyone’s shelf.
