From a young age Grace Dent loved food, so it's no surprise she ended up as a well known food critic.
From her humble beginnings in Carlisle we see her grow into a huge voice on the British food scene.
But this is HER story, the personal side of Grace.
We are treated to a glimpse into her childhood, her teenage years right through to adulthood.
Every stage of her life is imbued with food allegories or associations and even the people in her life, those closest to her are always vividly remembered through food.
An enduring bond with her father was a bar of Cadbury's Fruit and nut and this is something poignant in the Alzheimer years when she is caring for him and he remembers so little of the past or even the present.
This is an emotional read, highs lows, laughter, tears, loss and love all bound up with milestones of food along the way.
Read this without knowing nothing of her as a person but absolutely loved it and razed through it.
Such a great, honest and enjoyable read of life, the good times and bad.
