Hungry by Grace Dent is an autobiography with a difference, basing each story and situation around food and meals. Grace was born in Carlisle in the 1970s in a typical working class family. She grows up eating beige food and her family love a trip to the supermarkets when they first come to the area. She then moves to London to become a writer and ends up a food columnist writing about strange restaurants and weird and wonderful meals. However she is drawn back home to care for ageing parents, and has to work hard to make both parts of her life work together.
This autobiography was very well written, both funny and sad in parts. She brings her and her family to life especially her dad and I am drawn into her story.
I really enjoyed reading her stories and thought basing the book around different foods was a great idea as it gives you such an insight.
