I grew up in the North of England just like Grace and this brought back so many amazing memories of being a child in the 1980s. The food nostalgia is brilliant and it is also very moving about family, change, and how important those small traditions in every family are.

Funny and smart, this is one for British foodies who want to take a trip down memory lane (Angel Delight! Carveries!) with a superb writer who can make you snort laughing one minute then move you to tears the next.

The presence of Carlisle Asda loomed large in my childhood and it took me back to the excitement of a town getting its first massive supermarket - such a complete novelty and it was a real day out back then.

The later chapters on London TV life were also great as Grace finds her food groove without losing her Northern roots. No hesitation from me in giving this 5 out of 5 stars.
