I loved this book from start to finish. When I first saw the book I didn't think I would be interested in a food critics autobiography, however, Grace is very relatable, especially for those of us who grew up in a working-class household in the 1970s and 80s. Whilst Grace is now an acclaimed food critic, her writing is very down to Earth and funny. It is a book about food, 1970s working class Britain and dementia. I love how she reminisces about her childhood and how it is often connected to food most of us will have grown up with.

The darker side of the book focuses on her beloved dad's dementia diagnosis and the role she and her brother took as carers. Most people will be able to relate to the difficult decisions most of us have to make as grown-up children with ageing parents. Grace reminds us of the important things in life.

I would recommend this book to anyone, whether they are interested in food or not.
