For those of a certain age, this is a trip down memory lane when childhoods were carefree and simple pleasures came easily.
The mention of the Cadbury purple wrapper evokes memories and why food is such an important part of growing up.
This is a story of the love of a family, the joy of the most basic of foods. No avo on toast here, just plain, no nonsense, good old fashioned nosh.
The writing style is comforting, compelling and witty and the anticipation of what food is mentioned next. All those foods that had disappeared from my memory finally making a comeback.
Diana Dors blondes strolling down the road were definitely quite a normal sight in 1970s Liverpool and they weren't to be messed with.
All in all a fantastic book that would appeal to anyone who enjoys nostalgia and the food of yesteryear.
I cannot wait to read this book in its entirety, returning to the wonder years of the 70's.
By the way, does anyone still go to Brownies!
