Ok so I didn’t know much about Grace Dent before I read her biography. I found the first parts about her career and how she headed for London really insightful. I love the fact that she blagged her way into it and found that although she learnt a lot about the industry that she found she needed to up her life and go back home to her roots to really find herself. This was equal parts happy and sad and although someone is famous it proves to us mortals that everyone is human and inescapably mortal and for the most part born to humble beginnings. Grace doesn’t ever forget her beginnings and it really shows throughout the book. I love that she becomes Aunt Frieda posh and even her mum thinks that she’s stepped up in the world. I really want to know what happened to bob though as he kinda Just disappeared. When her mom and Dad both got ill that was genuinely heartbreaking and must have been the most difficult part to write about. I really enjoyed this book although I’m not a huge biography fan it didn’t disappoint.
