If you love Grace Dent, grew up in the same generation to her, or have an interest in food/writing/journalism then this book would definitely appeal. I think it is written fabulously for a memoir and it did get very emotional towards the end I must warn you. Get those tissues!

If I am completely honest I expected something a little different to what this book ultimately was and so I don’t want to negatively influence anyone after a mistake on my part. For me, I was expecting a book centred around food and facts around food etc. but yes, as the front cover says this is a memoir, perhaps I should have realised my mistake sooner! The book follows Grace’s life from childhood to adult and the food references are interspersed throughout rather than being the sole focus. So if anyone is being as oblivious as me then this is your flag!! I think because of this I didn’t end up enjoying the book as much as I wanted to but this is just because it wasn’t the right book for me at the time. Nothing to do with the book, far more to do with me!

Thanks to Tandem Collective for a great readalong and to Harper Collins for a copy of the book.
