I had listened to a podcast with Grace Dent talking about this book and her childhood memories of food and family. Previously I have only seen her as the rude judge on Masterchef but I warmed up a bit to her and wanted to know a bit more about growing up in the North in the 1980s. I'm so glad I did read this book. Its so blooming hilarious and honest and warm and real. The way it is written I feel transported in time and sitting in the front room while Grace and her mum are having and argument and dad tries to read his newspaper. The way she writes about food made me feel constantly hungry and wanting all the ASDA yellow whoops stickers foods. I really like the way Grace writes its so easy to follow and loose yourself in the story. It wa sa perfect solutions for the weird in-between Christmas week as with all the restrictions there is not much I can do but hibernating with a brilliant book was just the ticket.
