When I first received a copy of this to review I had never really heard anything about Grace Dent, and other than seeing her a few times on Master Chef didn't really know who she was or what she did. This is very unusual for me reading an autobiography, as I tend to stick with individuals that I have a strong personal connection with. However, even though I may be a decade behind in my own experiences (I'm definitely a 90's baby!), growing up working class in the north I found myself laughing and smiling at everything I could relate with. I live nearby and so recognized places which only aided to draw me in even further.

My attention did wane in parts as I found myself coming in and out, I suppose some things are more interesting to me than others? But I loved how openly and honestly she spoke about the relationship she shared with her parents, across the ages. It was especially touching and moving towards the end of the book where I must admit I became a little teary.

So beautifully written and delivered with such humor despite the darker content at times. I would certainly recommend this book, especially if you were a working class Northerner like me!
