This book had vibes of the film "Black Swan" about it.
Centred around the ballet scene of Paris this book exposes how competitive and cut throat the world of dance is.
Laure is not your standard Parisian ballet dancer, for a start she's black, estranged from her parents and poor. Pretty much everyone hates her.
When she's given the opportunity to have everything she desires it's hard to resist. BUT, this means dancing with the devil - in the true spirit of psychological horror, this book is devilishly dark and getting everything you want often comes at a price.
I did find myself skim reading this a bit as I wasn't overly invested in the characters, though I recognise that I am not the target (YA) audience. I enjoyed the bitchy nature of the ballet and the scenes there, the underworld was of less interest.
The cover is fab - it really gives you a feel for the creepy nature of the story. I am unconvinced by the overly wordy title though.......
