Laure Mesny has one overriding ambition in life.
She wants to make it in the world of ballet.
But certain, unfair things are against her no matter how brilliantly she shines, she is an accomplished black dancer in a world of white privileged girls.
She doesn't have their life advantages, having to thieve her way into getting things like tights, shoes, leotards, her home life is unstable and she doesn't have money or influence.
So in desperation as she feels she will never fit she cuts a deal.
But it's a deal with something sinister and is a dark evil that extols a heavy price for the favour she asks, to become the best, most powerful and influential danger at the opera Garnier.
It starts affecting her life, the people around her, the choices she would not otherwise make.
Has she gone too far to back out of this demonic pact?
Or will it devour her unless she can tame the consequences?

Really enjoyed the dark overtones and left wide open for a sequel to tell more of Laure's tale.
