Laure Mesne seems to have it all, a talent for dance and a place at the Paris Opera Garnier
Bit the truth is far different, she is a black girl from the wrong side of the tracks with a tough background while growing up.
She is set amongst the privileged elite of the dance school, moneyed, titled white girls who have ecejthi get and never have to worry about money.
No matter how hard she tries or how passionately she dances she doesn't seem to get the chances and opportunities others do.
In frustration and thwarted desperation she finds a way to make herself shine.
She strikes a bargain with an evil, twisted supernatural being who promises her all she wants, to be the most successful dancer at the Opera Garnier but the price is heavy.
People are getting hurt and although unkind to her, does she really want to do this?
Lose her humanity and maybe even herself.
But is it too late to turn back?
If it isn't does she even want to?
It's totally up to Laure and her own conscience.
This was fantastic, dark, creepy and I loved the element of ballet being brought into an essentially what is a horror novel.
Great stuff and a brilliant debut.
