Had to remind myself of target audience

The cover and title match the blurb brilliantly and the description and first look left me wanting more. But when I was reading it I had to regularly remind myself it was aimed at the late teen market.

An interesting premise, a young woman essentially selling her soul to get what she desires. It’s set in the ballet world in France and was, all in all a decent young adult horror. But it all just got a little crazy and far fetched for me, however I am mindful that might just be my age and that I am not the target audience.

There are sections of this book that are really fast paced and full of action but other parts that are a tad slow, and it didn’t always hold my attention. There also wasn’t much background on why she didn’t get along with her family or why she had moved from the US to France but again I wonder if the target audience would really be that bothered about these elements anyway.

A decent YA horror.
