‘I was god material long before it started’.

I Feed Her To The Beast by Shea focuses on the thrilling consequences of striving for perfection. The story follows Laure Mesny: a black ballerina with sublimely hungry talent ignored in the white ballet world. She would do anything to be seen, to be the star. So when Josephine, the ballerina who mysteriously became a global ballerina eating with the riches overnight, takes her to a place of sacrificial blood- to Archeron- she shows Laure how she got it all…and how she can have exactly that too.

But at what costs? But at whose expense?

This is the perfect book to read during October. I thought there was a great combination of mystery, murder, blood and friendship. My favourite character throughout the book was the protagonist (very rare) even at her most flawed moments. Every dance kept me on my feet and every enchantment she imposed demanding power was the perfect balance to instill my fear, sympathy and respect. This book demonstrates that the feeding spiral of perfection will always leave you starving for more.

Definitely a recommended read.
