Intensive in its magnificent design

I was slightly sceptical in regards to this based on the first few chapters, but I can not proclaim the magnificence of this novel enough. It covers so many emotional aspects of life in such a unique way. There is the competitive aspect of the ballet, the racial discrimination and social isolation of laure. The relationship of best friends and the change of those relationships based on ego, competition and jealousy. But then, in a bizarre and twisted manner, laure is then thrust into a world of demons that represent the ego feeding from our desires and manifesting in dark and manipulative ways that turn laure into a monster in a physical and mental way. There is some beautiful dialogue and strong moralistic elements that have the reader on emotional tender hooks. You never know which way this story might go, but you are riveted to the characters and mortals and monsters morph and unite together. It’s a read more than once treasure.
