This is the story of Laurence Mesny a young, poor black girl fighting for a place in the elite, rich, white world of the Ballet. I found it really good how the written has a very good knowledge about ballet and used this in the book however because it was so good some of the words she used to describe the dancing i didnt fully understand.
Unfortunately i just did not connect to this book or the characters. I felt The story was jumpy in places where it could have gone into more depth but just skipped over bits. I feel that the characters background could have been explored more and that might have given us a better connection to her, as it was unclear how she got to the ballet school in France and why she fid not have a good relationship with her parents.
I think this wiuld be good for someone who was more knowledgeable on ballet but unfortunately that was not me.
