The author has created a thoroughly likeable, albeit morally flawed protagonist. This cannot have been easy, but by cleverly utilizing her considerable strengths as a writer, it is impossible not to be increasingly drawn to Laure Mesne and her Incandescent vibrancy as a character.

The minutiae of detail about the world of ballet, where an appearance of light and perfection is everything, juxtaposed against an underworld of moral darkness and Laure's struggle to reconcile the two, whilst living with her personal set of ethics is highly compelling.

My only slight criticism is that Laure shines so vividly that she inevitably eclipses the secondary characters with whom her own life is enmeshed.

The horror element is powerful and evocative, displaying skilful use of drama, metaphor and a wide range of literary skills. I would buy this book without a doubt
