4.5 stars because this book was stunning: it really captured me and it took me out of a long-standing book slump. It is such a good book that highlights the grave issues of racism in ballet and in society in general, and it also talks about how people do not like when other women are in power, formulating crazy theories that make no sense and are fake.
The book is written beautifully, the words fly through, and its pace is quite fast, so the story develops quickly. I love the concept and the whole idea behind the book, and I am excited to read the next book in the series.
The author printed a really wonderful picture of ballet, even for those who are not familiar with the steps and dances, you still feel very immersed. I have seen this book recommended like Ace of Spades mixed with Black Swan and I see what they mean: however, it is still its own book, wholly separate from these!
The cover is stunning and so fitting to the story. I loved this book and I can't wait for the next one.
