The main thing that remains with me after reading this book is the story line. It’s such a beautiful concept that a song will connect two souls meant to be together.
My main problem with the book is the language…. Some American writers transcend the big divide between American english and English without any apparent problem. Unfortunately this book is extremely American and I found I was concentrating on the prose instead of the story. I also think that the first half of the novel is a bit over long and complicated.
The story is mainly about two sad young people, Shosh and Evan who hear a song no one else hears. Despite all the bad things happening in both their lives they are drawn together by feelings which are deeper and stronger than would be expected on meeting each other.
A book I mostly enjoyed reading and can only suggest you give it a try too.
