Firstly, I really loved the cover of this book. The golden thread, interspersed with birds, that joins the main characters together really sparkles and draws the eye.
I'm not the target audience for this book, it being YA, but I really enjoyed this gentle love story of two teenagers who are brought together by an invisible force, an unknown bond as old as time itself.
Evan and Shoosh are teenagers that are destined to be together. If the story was just about their romance though it would probably feel quite trite. This book is so much more. They both have their own demons to battle and big hurdles that they are struggling to navigate. Their stories are portrayed beautifully though, as there is a vast array of well drawn supporting characters (Ali is a complete legend as Evan's best friend). The interaction between them all feels natural and I felt completely drawn into the story.
A lovely read, especially if you love the idea of fate.
