I found this book really difficult to get into though I kept on trying.
The characters didn’t really have anything about them that you could get to know them and feel connected in some way, they were just flat and had no real backstory.
The book is mainly written about Shosh and even but also flips back to 1832 which got me very confused.
Shosh is missing her sister that died leaving her lost and lonely, they were always together and if not together, leaving notes. Her family doesn’t appear to be coping to well with their grief and Shosh seems to be acting out and not being able to find an anchor to steady herself too.
Evan’s father walked out one day leaving his mother,7 year old brother and himself. His mother is having to work hard doing two jobs to be able to get them through but she falls ill and things have to change.
Both Evan and Shosh start hearing songs or music, but this didn’t really bring a lot to the story.
