What a book!! This truly captures you and never lets you go. It’s heartwarming and heartbreaking and deals with grief, guilt and anxiety as well as depression. It’s about two people healing themselves as they find that each has been looking for the other for a long time, they feel a sense of a connection towards each other that just seems right. It’s magical and moving and yes occasionally little glimpses of humour to ease the darkness and numbness of some of the characters feelings and views. Shosh is someone who hurts in a self destructive way whereas Evan destructive to only his dreams as he feels the pressure of being both Dad and brother to his little brother who he adores and wants him to feel loved not abandoned or unneeded. It’s also clever in that you are following these characters through a changing time where they are on the brink of being adults and leaving home so there’s also a sense of time limitations on their relationship but as we all know if you truly want something distance and time is no great matter.
