This is a very bright and colourful large scale book ( 26 cms X 26 cms) with glossy heavy weight paper so it should stand up to the rough handling that children give books. It is designed to be read by an adult and a child together. This will be good for the interaction between them, making reading an action activity with the added benefit of pair bonding. The story is about a bear with a bare bum, which unfortunately is referred to throughout as a "butt". This is my only reservation about the book. The increasing use of coarse Americanisms in our language is to be regretted. Teaching youngsters to use the word "butt" is not good at all.
The other characters in the book are bees, which join in the fun. The illustrations are excellent, clear and simple, and stand out well against the plain brightly coloured pages. This is one of a series of such books, and will be popular.
